A Look Back at May 2026

May has been another busy and successful month across Blackpool FC Community Trust, with a variety of activities and events taking place both on and off the pitch.

Blackpool FC Sports College enjoyed the opportunity to play a fixture at Bloomfield Road, giving students the chance to experience playing in a professional stadium environment. The college also hosted an open evening for prospective new students and their families, showcasing the exciting opportunities available through our education and football programmes.

Blackpool FC First Team player Ashley Fletcher was named the PFA Community Champion in recognition of his outstanding support and contribution to community initiatives throughout the season.

Our FA Girls Emerging Talent Centre celebrated the end of another successful season, continuing to support and develop the next generation of female footballers. Blackpool FC Girls and Ladies also took part in a special training session at Bloomfield Road, and Blackpool FC Ladies have been hosting first-team trials throughout the month.

One of the highlights of May was our annual Fit2Go Festival at Bloomfield Road, where 1,200 Year 4 pupils from local primary schools attended for a day focused on health, fitness, and wellbeing. We also held a Tiny Tangerines session on the pitch, helping younger participants enjoy football in a fun and engaging environment.

BFC School played a friendly fixture against Preston North End at Bloomfield Road, while Blackpool FC Sports College also took part in an in-house fixture on Bloomfield Road.

Away from the pitch, our Premier League Inspires Challenge winners proudly represented us at a celebration event at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, a national event that uses football to empower 11–to 18-year-olds through life skills, mentoring, and social action.

We held a Get FIT Keep FIT session up in one of the lounges at the stadium for our participants to enjoy, overlooking the pitch while they participated in a circuits class.

We announced Matt Hilton as Interim CEO, marking an important moment for the organisation.

Our May holiday camps started and have been fantastic, providing enjoyable sports experiences for young people throughout the school break.

May was Skin Cancer Awareness Month, so we helped to raise awareness of the importance of skin protection and health education.

To round off a busy month, we hosted an Under-16s grassroots tournament as part of our Blackpool FC Sports College and Premier League Kicks offering, bringing together teams from across the community for a fantastic day of football.
