July was another busy month for Blackpool FC Community Trust, with activity taking place across education, football, health, wellbeing and community programmes.
The month got off to a positive start as members of our team completed their Level 3 Combined Emergency First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid qualifications, helping to ensure our staff have the skills and knowledge needed to keep participants safe across our programmes.
To mark Youth Employment Week, we highlighted the growing number of Blackpool FC Sports College students who have secured employment with the Trust. By providing students with opportunities to gain valuable experience and develop practical skills, we are helping to create clear pathways into employment and support the next generation of professionals across sport, education and the community sector.
Bloomfield Road welcomed representatives from Lancashire Armed Forces Community Support Groups for their monthly networking meeting. The event provided an opportunity for organisations from across the county to come together, share updates, discuss new initiatives and exchange examples of good practice.
There were also some fantastic achievements celebrated through Man v Fat Football, with participants reaching impressive weight-loss milestones. Combining football with weekly accountability and wellbeing support, Man v Fat continues to support participants to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing.
Our Community Club welcomed a range of organisations to share the support they can offer, with representatives from Empowerment, Healthwatch, NatWest, Cosy Homes and The Big Food Truck all on hand with advice and guidance.
There was a special celebration for Year 11 students from BFC School, who returned to Bloomfield Road to collect their medals after being crowned AP League Champions. Congratulations to all students on this fantastic achievement.
Beaverbrooks Enterprise Challenge returned to Bloomfield Road Stadium, welcoming Year 8 pupils from local schools to Bloomfield Road for a day of creativity, teamwork and problem-solving. Students took part in a range of challenges designed to develop their communication, leadership and business skills, with Montgomery High School crowned this year’s winners. Congratulations!
One of the highlights of July was the annual Jimmy Armfield Memorial Tournament, which brought together young footballers for a day of football and friendship, while celebrating the lasting legacy of one of Blackpool FC’s greatest figures. Congratulations to Stanley Primary School, who were crowned tournament winners.
Some BFC School students were rewarded for their excellent behaviour thanks to a generous donation of Notarianni’s Ice Cream vouchers from Tristianos Dream Tickets. The vouchers recognised students for consistently demonstrating positive attitudes, respect and commitment throughout the school year.
Our armed forces programmes continued to provide opportunities for participants to get together and enjoy new experiences, with the group heading to Knowsley Safari Park for their monthly outing.
Congratulations to Theo, who was named BFC School’s Student of the Month. Theo was recognised for his maturity, personal growth and willingness to support those around him, consistently demonstrating the positive values that underpin the school’s learning environment.
Families now have the chance to save on their celebrations, with a special 10% discount on any BFCCT birthday party booked and taking place before 31st August.
We were pleased to announce the addition of a dedicated anaphylaxis kit at BFC School. This vital piece of emergency equipment further strengthens our safeguarding procedures and helps us to maintain a safe environment for students, participants, staff and visitors.
Members of our Sporting Memories group enjoyed a special behind-the-scenes stadium tour before putting their Blackpool FC knowledge to the test with a themed quiz.
Our popular Summer Camps also got off to a flying start, with every location in week one selling out! Hundreds of children have already enjoyed a packed programme of football, sport and enrichment activities during the school holidays, making it a fantastic start to another busy summer.
With plenty more still to come, we’re looking forward to seeing what the rest of the summer brings!
