On Sunday 5th May 2019, a team of military heroes from the veterans community will take on celebrities from TV, film and the world of sport in a bank holiday special charity football match at Bloomfield Road. The game which has been organised by local lad and also one of the stars of Channel 4’s Hunted and Celebrity Hunted Jordan Wylie, hopes to raise much needed funds and awareness for charities including Frontline Children, Seafarers UK and Epilepsy Action. The game will also see the return of some seaside legends including Brett Omerod, Danny Coid, Ian Evatt and Big Ben Burgess who will all feature in what promises to be an action packed fun day out for all the family. The celebrity team will be managed by Charlie Lawson (aka Jim McDonald from Coronation Street) and the veterans will be led by former Commando Officer turned politician Johnny Mercer MP. Tickets are priced at £10 adults and £7 for children.
On Monday mornings we hold a free Veterans Club which is for Members of the Armed Forces Community and is a place where those who have served, and their families, can meet up, have a brew, share stories and have some fun with like-minded individuals.
