Blackpool FC Community Trust CEO Ashley Hackett to Become CEO at Manchester United Foundation

Blackpool FC Community Trust can confirm that Chief Executive Officer, Ashley Hackett, will be leaving the organisation to take up a new role as CEO of Manchester United Foundation.

Under Ashley’s leadership, Blackpool FC Community Trust has grown significantly in both scale and impact. In the most recent year alone, the Trust supported over 28,000 people across Blackpool and the Fylde coast, delivering programmes spanning education, health, inclusion and wider community development.

Ashley departs after 15 years with the Trust, during which he oversaw a sustained period of growth that established it as one of the leading football club charities in the country.

Chair of Trustees, Wendy Swift, said:

“Since Ashley was appointed as CEO, he has transformed the Trust into the organisation it is today, with a significant and lasting impact on our community.

“On behalf of myself and the Board of Trustees, I would like to thank Ashley for his commitment, leadership and contribution, and wish him every success in the next chapter.”

Blackpool FC Owner, Simon Sadler, said:

“On behalf of everyone at Blackpool Football Club, I want to thank Ash for the extraordinary contribution he has made to our town.

“Over nearly 15 years, he has demonstrated immense compassion and leadership qualities to lead the Trust to become one of the most effective and successful in the country. His passion for our community has genuinely changed lives, and he leaves us with our very best wishes in what is a fantastic opportunity for him at Manchester United Foundation.”

Ashley Hackett said:

“It has been a privilege to lead the Football Club charity in my hometown.

“Blackpool is a special place, and through the combined strength of the Club and the Trust, we have built something that has made a real and lasting difference to people’s lives across our community.

“While this is a proud moment for me and my family, it is also a difficult one. This organisation means a great deal to me, and that is down to the people within it.

“I would like to thank our staff and Board of Trustees for their commitment, professionalism and support over many years. The work delivered by this team is outstanding and deserves far greater recognition.

“I am also grateful to everyone at the Club and to the supporters for their backing, and in particular, Simon Sadler for his continued support of the town, the Football Club and the Trust.

“There was only ever one opportunity that would take me away from Blackpool, and I am proud to be taking that next step.

“Blackpool FC will always hold a special place for me. UTMP.”
