A look back at April 2026

April has been a busy and impactful month for BFC School and Community Programmes.

This month has been packed with meaningful experiences, exciting opportunities, and community engagement across BFCCT.

Our BFC School students recently took part in the Young Detectives Programme, an insightful initiative designed to educate young people on the real-life consequences of knife crime. Working alongside professionals from the police, Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), and guest speakers, students gained a deeper understanding of how serious crimes are investigated. The sessions proved both informative and eye-opening, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved. We extend our thanks to Blackpool Police for their support in delivering such a powerful programme.

Celebration was also in order as we crowned the winner of Blackpool FC’s mascot package. Hugo, a familiar face at our football camps, was selected for the special honour of being a match-day mascot at a Blackpool FC home fixture. To make the occasion even more memorable, the award was presented by first-team player Albie Morgan.

Responding to community feedback, we have relocated our popular boxercise sessions to a new venue. Participants can now join us at Aspire Sports Hub, providing an improved and more accessible setting for everyone involved.

April also marked Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, during which we actively shared important information about signs and symptoms with the public. Through pop-up stalls at our community club, we were able to offer accessible resources and raise awareness among participants and visitors alike.

We launched a new round of our Esports League, featuring EA Sports FC26. This initiative continues to provide young people with a fun and engaging environment to develop new skills, build confidence, and connect with others who share similar interests.

We were proud to support the Football Shirt Friday campaign, with participants wearing their favourite football shirts throughout the week to show their support and raise awareness for an important cause.

Creativity also took centre stage as Nathan Parker (Nathan Parker Words) visited BFC School to deliver inspiring creative writing sessions. Students embraced the opportunity to express themselves and develop their storytelling skills under expert guidance.

As exam season approaches, we extend our best wishes to all students preparing for their GCSEs. We also encourage prospective learners to attend the upcoming Blackpool FC Sports College open evening on Monday 18th May 5pm – 7pm, offering a glimpse into future opportunities.

Our commitment to community wellbeing continues through our involvement in Age UK’s Act Now, Age Better campaign. We are encouraging individuals aged 50–65 to stay active by joining our walking sports sessions, designed to support both physical and mental health.

On the pitch, Blackpool FC played their final home game of the season at Bloomfield Road against Leyton Orient, securing a 1-0 victory.

Blackpool FC Sports College A and B teams played their last fixtures of the season, capping off another successful season in Tangerine.

Finally, the winners of our Premier League Inspires challenge enjoyed a memorable visit to Hill Dickinson Stadium, celebrating their achievements with a special experience.

Overall, it has been a month filled with learning, celebration, and community spirit, highlighting the positive impact of our programmes both on and off the field.
