On Wednesday May 14th 2014 Bloomfield Road hosted a Blackpool FC Community Trust Kicks and New Fylde Futures football tournament.
Sixteen squads from each of the eight Kicks and New Fylde Futures sites were selected to play at the stadium and were split into two age groups – under 15s and under 18s.
The tournament was the first Kicks and New Fylde Futures football tournament on the Bloomfield Road pitch and the young people took full advantage of the chance to play on the famous turf. There were some incredibly excited players ready to show their skills inside of the stadium.
Players from both age groups displayed some real quality play, and competition was fierce as the teams fought to gain first place in their respective groups to qualify for the finals. Onlookers were impressed by the levels of skill and passion on show and after an exhausting round of group matches in both age categories the two group runners up went into a play off to decide who took third and fourth place.
The group winners qualified for the final matches to determine who would be the champions of the first Kicks Bloomfield Road tournament.

Well done to all the teams who took part, the tournament was a brilliant showpiece for Kicks and New Fylde Futures and we look forward to the possibility of hosting the tournament again next year.
