We are delighted to announce that our Fit2Go project has won the Community Initiative of the Year at the 2014 North West Football Awards.

NW Football Awards 2014 - Initiative of the Year winners

Fit2Go came out on top of other shortlisted initiatives delivered by Everton FC; City in the Community; Wigan Athletic Community Trust; Bolton Wanderers Community Trust; and Morecambe FC Community Sports.

The six week ground-breaking project is helping youngsters in Blackpool to be healthier and happier. Fit2Go is delivered in all of Blackpool’s 30 primary schools by the Trust, under the banner of Altogether Now and has, to date, reached more than 10,000 children.

It aims to encourage children to lead healthier lives, take part in regular physical activity and to join in with local sports clubs and community programmes to ultimately improve their overall health and well-being.

The awards, which took place at Old Trafford cricket ground on Tuesday 18 November, recognised the great and the good of football in the North West. Huge names from the football world, including representatives from top Premier League clubs, were present on the night to learn all about our fantastic programme.
