Earlier this week 22 schools from across Blackpool took part in the 2014/2015 Football League Kids Cup Competition. Over 170 pupils from Years 5 and 6 participated in the competition organised by Blackpool Football Club Community Trust.
After the initial group stages 16 teams progressed to the knock out stages leading to a final with Anchorsholme Academy and Unity Academy going head to head to claim the title. It was Anchorsholme Academy who managed to pull through winning 3-0 in an exciting final.
“It was a great day that was really well organised with plenty of game time, all of the participants had great attitude and played in good spirits” said Mr Harvie, from Thames Academy.
Winners Anchorsholme Academy will now represent Blackpool FC at the Championship North Competition, played at the Macron stadium, the home of Bolton Wanderers FC in March.
