The Premier League has today launched Premier League Primary Stars, a national curriculum-linked education programme which uses the appeal of professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.
Blackpool FC Community Trust’s schools delivery team will be delivering the Premier League Primary Stars programme. Primary Schools in Blackpool are given a free 6 week block of P.E support, where our schools delivery team come in to the school and support school staff with their delivery of P.E lessons. This is the Premier League’s most ambitious community programme to date and aims to support 10,000 primary schools by 2019.
Chris Debar, Blackpool FC Community Trust’s Senior Physical Education Officer, said:
“This is an amazing opportunity for the primary schools in Blackpool to get involved with a national programme aiming to inspire all who participate.
We’ve really seen an impact on the pupils already, through the use of the Primary Stars certificates, where we have started to incorporate the four Premier League values in to our school delivery. The P.E support we have provided to school staff has had a real impact, improving their confidence and knowledge in delivering P.E lessons.
Teachers are making good use of the online resources available to them and we’re really excited about what the future holds as there is still more content to come.”
Richard Scudamore, Executive Chairman, Premier League added:
“We are very excited to launch Premier League Primary Stars, our new national education programme that will use the power and popularity of football to inspire children to work hard and enjoy English, Maths and a range of other subjects.
“Our clubs already do great work in primary schools, and Premier League Primary Stars will support and enhance that work with educational resources for teachers, books from celebrated children’s authors, and much more.
