Blackpool FC Community Trust recently attended the 2018 Local Hero Awards.
Inspirational charitable individuals and organisations across Blackpool were recognised at a glitzy award ceremony at the Tower Ballroom for the 2018 Local Hero Awards organised by local MP Gordon Marsden on Thursday 22ndNovember and Blackpool FC Community Trust were very proud to be nominated for Most Outstanding Blackpool Charity and The Trust’s current BTEC student and volunteer Tom Hanslip was also nominated for Most Charitable Young Person (24 and under).
The event brought together a host of individuals and organsations from the voluntary and third sector, to celebrate the great work done in Blackpool for the local community, which falls very much in line with the Trust’s aims to improve lives for the better and increase social inclusion and education; improve physical fitness and health; and lessen involvement in negative activities and anti social behaviour.
Blackpool FC Community Trust Chief Executive, Ashley Hackett was proud that Blackpool FC Community Trust and Tom Hanslip was recognised for all the continuous hard work.
Ashley said, “It was a great honour to be highlighted by Gordon and his panel of judges. To celebrate an evening like this with so many other worthy groups and local volunteers was a huge accolade for ourselves and great work we do.”
Tom Hanslip, who has volunteered more than 250 hours with Blackpool FC Community Trust in less than 12 months and also graduated from the Trust’s NCS programme said, “I started volunteering with The Trust and I feel that my confidence and self-esteem has been really boosted. I got involved with as many programmes as possible and now I’m doing my BTEC in Sport which I’m really enjoying. To be recognised at these awards is overwhelming but I will continue to work hard.”
