Kyran Bowes is a Blackpool FC Sports College student, currently in his first year of studying for a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports. Kyran first learned about the college while attending a school careers fair at Montgomery Academy. Following an open evening at Blackpool FC Sports College, he decided it was the right place to continue his studies after high school.
Joining Blackpool FC Sports College in September 2023, Kyran quickly expressed interest in the football academy programme. His pace and work rate immediately impressed the staff, earning him a spot on the A team squad, a rare achievement for a first-year student.
Steven Brown, Blackpool FC Sports College A Team Coach and coach at Blackpool FC Academy, said,
“Kyran gives 110% effort in everything he does. He is a great lad to coach and has been a key player for our A team, consistently performing at a high level throughout the season.”
In addition to his training and playing commitments with Blackpool FC Sports College, Kyran volunteers on various projects within Blackpool FC Community Trust. He is currently a volunteer at Tiny Tangerines and Football Camps, and he assists with the organisation and planning of mascots at Blackpool FC on matchdays.
Oliver Clarke, Sports Development Manager at Blackpool FC Community Trust, commented,
“Kyran has been a great support at the football camps. His positive approach towards participants has impressed the staff, and he has effectively adopted good practices from the staff to lead arrival activities.”
Besides all his commitments, Kyran is also known for his role on TV, playing Jack Webster on Coronation Street. This sometimes requires him to miss college for filming, but the college ensures he stays on top of his assignments with a tailored plan.
Kirsten Martin, Blackpool FC Sports College Tutor, remarked,
“Kyran is an enthusiastic and valued student with a fantastic work ethic. Despite missing days for filming, he always puts in the effort to stay up-to-date with his work. He has a promising future ahead of him, whichever path he chooses to follow.”
Reflecting on his experience, Kyran said,
“I have enjoyed my first year at Blackpool FC Sports College and I’m ready to progress and excel in my second year here. The environment is great, and the staff are friendly and supportive. Studying sport, which is my passion, has been amazing. I would recommend anyone to come and study at Blackpool FC Sports College; they have given me so many opportunities.”
