Thumbs Up For Equality

Blackpool FC Community Trust is celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities with EFL.

To coincide with International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Monday 3 December, the EFL will be holding its own EFL Day of Disabilities on the same date.

The aim of the day is for the EFL and all 72 Clubs to come together and share some of the positive work that has been undertaken by Clubs to ensure an inclusive environment for disabled participants.

Blackpool FC Community Trust deliver a wide range of disability programmes and have done for a number years. The Community Trust offers a range of activities to get target audiences, that would not normally participate, involved in regular physical activity sessions. Groups include people with disabilities, over 50’s and women and girls.

The Trust’s Inclusion Officer, Dave MaClean, who delivers the disability programmes said, “The Trust prides itself on delivering and creating equal opportunities. We go into a number of special schools and I absolutely love it. It’s probably one of the best aspects of the job to work with these exceptional people.”
