PL Kicks Tournaments

Blackpool FC Community Trust PL Kicks participants have spent half term representing Blackpool in PL Kicks Tournaments.

On Monday 17thFebruary we took Year 10 participants on a trip to the Etihad campus to take part in a PL Kicks tournament hosted by City In The Community. This was a reward for their brilliant behaviour in BFCCT activities and in school.

On the Tuesday we hosted an Under 16s 5 a-side tournament from Playfootball Blackpool. We invited all participants from our Wednesday evening Playfootball Kicks session to represent Blackpool. We also invited Blackburn Rovers Foundation, Preston North End, Derby County Community Trust and Fleetwood Town Community Trust.

The games were played in great spirits and the three teams that represented The Community Trust came first, second and third in the tournament.

Matthew Guy, who has attended PL Kicks session for the past six years took part in the tournament and spoke about his experience, “I started playing football at Kicks when I was at Boundary Primary and they did the Thursday night football. It was a place to see my mates and keep out of trouble.”

The PL Kicks tournaments were arranged by BFCCT Community Sports Manager Michael Brown, he went on to say, “The PL Kicks tournaments offer a fantastic experience for the young people of Blackpool to represent the town. It’s a unique opportunity to play football at state of the art facilities such as the Etihad. The young people can be really proud of the way they have represented our town.”

Tomorrow our Year 10 PL Kicks participants will be heading to Liverpool to play Man United Foundation and Liverpool FC Foundation.
