Kickstart Your Career with Blackpool FC Community Trust

Blackpool FC Community Trust will be delivering another Traineeship course on February 5th. The course has been made to help those who are aged 16-24 that are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), get back into the world of work.

This successful programme, which is now in it’s seventh cohort, is based at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool and runs for 12 weeks. Over the last 12 months, the Trust has worked with 77 learners who enrolled on to the Traineeship course and 63% have secured full-time employment or gone into education.

Former Traineeship and current BTEC student James Hanson praised the positive impact Traineeship has had on his life. James said, “Before I enrolled on to the Traineeship, I didn’t know what I was doing with my life. I joined the army and I didn’t like it. So I came across the Traineeship course and I loved it. It taught me key life skills and even got me a placement at Ascent Trampoline Park which then led to part-time employment. I’m now doing my BTEC Level 3 in Coaching with Blackpool FC Community Trust and I want to be a P.E teacher when I’m older. I just want to thank Blackpool FC Community Trust for helping me turn my life around.”

Blackpool FC Community Trust Senior Employability Officer Rick Bryan, believes the Traineeship course is an excellent opportunity for trainees to turn their lives around and start their further education which will lead to employment opportunities. Rick said, “With Blackpool having one of the highest NEET rates in the U.K, this programme will open up opportunities for people aged 16 to 24, to gain accredited qualifications and improve their life skills. The programme will also lead to a pathway into employability.”

No qualifications are required and the course is free of charge. The Traineeship course also gives the opportunity for the trainees who enrol, to work through certain qualifications like English and Maths, Level One in Employability and their First Aid at Work. The Trainees will gain 110 hours of work experience and will be working within a professional football club. The Traineeship can also lead to pathways on to our BTEC Level 2 and 3 programmes.

The Traineeship course provides crucial work experience which includes:

  • Working in different departments of a professional football club
  • Working with local key organisations
  • Assisting in the delivery of sports in schools
  • Working within the private sports sector
