Have you heard about NCS – National Citizen Service?

It is a great opportunity to challenge yourself and have your voice heard.

On NCS, you’ll mix with a new crowd, and take on fresh challenges together. Before you know it, you’ll be rooting for each other, as you all tackle your own little hurdles.

Along the way, you’ll also get a taste for independence and pick up skills that’ll help you smash your future goals.

If that’s not enough for you, you’ll also be given a platform to have your voice heard and pursue a passion project.

The NCS experience might last just a few weeks, but the impact? That lasts a LOT longer.

Still not sure?  Here are what current participants have to say.

Lewis Cauvain – 17

“Lewis came onto the NCS programme as a confident lad who was very bubbly. You could see within his friendship group that he was a likeable young lad. He is very sporty, wasn’t scared of getting stuck in and gave every challenge he faced 100% effort. This is what Lewis had to say about his NCS Experience.” Joe Stockell, Social Inclusion Officer

“NCS has helped me develop new friendships that are for life. The activities were so much fun and challenging which helped me overcome some fears and come out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed NCS so much I wanted to carry on my journey, so I joined the NCS Youth Board. This has also continued to help me become more confident and develop more skills to help me in the future.” Lewis

Laura Pratley – 17

Laura started off her NCS journey as a shy individual however she soon came out of her shell as she got stuck into different activities and socialise with other participants. Laura faced many challenges while being on the NCS programme and has overcome each one. She is a very bubbly character within the group and always the first and last person to give people help. Laura should be proud of her NCS Journey. Below is what Laura had to say. Joe Stockell, Social Inclusion Officer

“NCS has helped me gain confidence when talking to people and doing presentations etc. It has made me overcome fears which I never thought I could. It has also helped me gain friends or restore friendships with my peers. I can now use the confidence I gained to take part in the Youth Board and be able to speak to new people.  I want to continue to give more back to my community in many ways.” Laura

Holly Heslop – 17

“Holly was the life and soul of the group, making people laugh on a daily basis, making them feel comfortable and helping people believe that they could overcome their fears and come out of their comfort zones. However, she did lack confidence going into unfamiliar activities and doing things she has never done before. Nevertheless, with the encouragement of the rest of the group she gave it a real go. NCS helped her with her decision making in regard to higher education. She is now currently studying on our BTEC course and is going from strength to strength with her development.” – Joe Stockell, Social Inclusion Officer

“NCS has helped me feel more confident within myself and making new friends, it also helped me face some fear and experience things I never thought I would. The Youth Board is giving more experience into planning and having responsibilities, I believe that these will help me in the future. Because of NCS it has helped me with my educational journey as I am now a students at the BFC Community Trust Sports College, as I aspire to be a PE teacher.” Holly
