Football League Trust Girls Futsal Cup
Students from Lytham St.Annes High Technology and Performing Art’s College were Blackpool FC Community Trust representatives in the Year 10/11 Girl’s Futsal Cup northern area final in Blackburn. The winners would advance to the nationals at St. Georges Park, home of the national side. Students Natasha Webster, India Rogers, Faith Wood, Izzy Durose, Ava Fox, Molly Dyer, Ellie Fleming and Ava Shearer-Fox were drawn in Group 1 against Preston and Wigan. Wigan went through as winners of the group with Blackpool qualifying as runners up after two wins over Preston. They would then take on winners from Group 2 Blackburn Rovers in a semi-final. Blackburn were a well organised side who were strong individually and as a unit. The game finished 4-1 to Blackburn who were just too strong for our hardworking Blackpool side. Rovers went onto win the competition remaining unbeaten throughout the day. The LSA girls will use this year as a good experience, as all the girls were current Year 10 students and will have an opportunity to play in next year’s competition.
