Community Trust teams up with Lancashire Mind to start 'Get Set To Go' programme

Blackpool FC Community Trust has started an exciting programme in partnership with Lancashire Mind called Get Set To Go.

Get Set To Go uses exercises to overcome barriers for people, who may be suffering with a mental health problem. Get Set To Go provides one to one support, team-work exercises and finding the right physical activity for you.

Inclusion Officer, Owen Coyle believes Get Set To Go is an excellent programme for participants to become more confident as it boosts social skills. He said, “Get Set To Go is aimed at participants to improve their social barriers by participating in fun filled football activities. The sessions is open to anyone who feels they need a more inclusive environment which the Get Set To Go programme will provide.”

Liam Challenger, who is the Events Co-ordinator for Get Set To Go, has been impressed with the sessions Owen has been delivering. Liam said, “The programme aims to improve the lives of people with mental health problems by breaking down the barriers to sport and physical activity. Get Set To Go allows for participants to enjoy sport in a friendly, supportive environment which caters for all levels of ability. Participants will benefit from improved mental and physical wellbeing. The first session delivered by Owen was fantastic. Owen ensured that the session was inclusive and fun.”
