Our BTEC Level 3 in Football Studies teams Blackpool A and B team take on North West rivals Blackburn Rovers A and B team today at Squires Gate Football Club.
Blackpool A will be going into the game full of confidence having beaten Fleetwood Town and Accrington Stanley in recent weeks, but will have to do without striker Lewis Martin who is unavailable for this fixture through injury. Blackburn A are also in fine form.
Blackpool B’s only points of the season came against Blackburn B back in October with the Blackburn side still struggling to get a point on the board. Blackpool will look to put pressure on neighbours Fleetwood Town who are just above them having suffered a disappointing defeat last week.
Trust’s Football Development Officer Alex Taylor is looking forward to both fixtures. “At the start of the season finishing in the top 3 was our target and we are there at the minute with our A team, but I have told our lads they’re more than capable of going for the runners up spot if they apply themselves. Technically they’re good enough, it will come down to attitude and mentality on the day and whether we can put the ball in the net.”
On the B team, Alex said, “Our B team must show a reaction after last week’s disappointing defeat, but they are looking to bounce back with a victory.”
