Blackpool FC Community Trust has enjoyed another successful year delivering their BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport with Futsal. The Community Trust has now reached a milestone with their first cohort of students due to graduate at their awards evening next Wednesday night.
All 18 of the 2nd year students have achieved amazing results with 14 students achieving the highest possible grade D*D*D*, these results have seen Blackpool FC Community Trust finishing top of the educational table for the 2nd year in a row when compared to the results of the other 52 football league clubs delivering the programme.
Due to the success of the course Blackpool FC Community Trust in association with the Football League Trust (FLT) and the University of South Wales have now set up a Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development, in which 14 of the 2nd year students will be studying.
One of our students Ryan Waring-Mitchell has been accepted into the IFA – International Futsal Academy at Loughborough University College, where he will study a degree in sports studies while continuing to develop his Futsal skills in the National Futsal League. Two of our learners James Hammond and Mark Spreadbury have been accepted on to Sports Coaching Degrees at UCLan, while one of our learners Tony Penfold has been accepted into the Armies Royal Logistics Core.
Our first year students have also enjoyed a fantastic year with all 25 learners achieving their target grade. The first year students have also engaged on a number of other initiatives outside of their BTEC course, this was typified when four of our learners, Dylan Nagliati, Nathan Kirk, Elliott Knight and Jordan Huddart won the National Business and Enterprise competition run by the Premier League, beating over 3000 young people from across the country.
Our first year students have also recently returned from a very successful pre-season training camp in Alicante, Spain. 14 of the students spent a week at Alicante University where they completed a range of sessions designed to improve their fitness while developing their futsal skills. The students also enjoyed the experience of playing two friendly matches against Cfs Futsal Alicante San Vincente U23s and U25s.
The education provision at Blackpool FC Community Trust is once again growing and we are now enrolling for September 2015. We have three courses available for the upcoming academic year, a Level 2 Diploma in Sport with Futsal, Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport with Futsal and a brand new course, a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Coaching which is available to both male and female students aged 16 – 17 years.
