Blackpool FC Ladies Season Update

It has been a positive season for Blackpool FC Ladies. With two games left of the season, they are currently sitting in third in the league. The Ladies have also been on some positive cup runs, reaching the Semi-Final of the Lancashire County Cup and the 3rd Qualifying Round of the Adobe FA Cup.

Over the last 12 months, Blackpool FC Ladies have added much-needed strength-in-depth to the squad, allowing greater consistency throughout the season and enhancing the team’s speed and athleticism.

Blackpool FC Community Trust’s FA Girls’ Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) is starting to reap the rewards, with several girls turning 16 and immediately joining the Blackpool FC Ladies First Team. There is now a constant pipeline of players who will be added to the Blackpool FC Ladies team when they turn 16. This will further improve the team, hopefully driving them up the leagues.

The squad now consists of a mix of experienced and younger players, giving us a great combination of power and aggression, speed and athleticism, and technique and tactical discipline.

Away from the pitch, additional staff have been recruited to help ensure the day-to-day running of Blackpool FC Ladies. Lee Church and Rob Plant are involved in a coaching capacity, Charley Wilson is the goalkeeper coach, Tracy Lowe is the Club Secretary, and Harry Lowe updates social media on matchdays.

There is now a clear pathway from the Blackpool FC Ladies junior teams into the Blackpool FC Ladies First Team. This season, sixteen girls aged under 18 have stepped up confidently into the First Team, with some becoming a big part of the starting eleven.

The whole structure of Blackpool FC Ladies has been improved recently, which will hopefully lead to more success in the future. The immediate aim is to be promoted from Tier 6 next season and continue to build and challenge for future promotions in the following seasons.
