Hear from Joe, a current BTEC Level 3 student, who participated in the friendly fixture against Blackburn Rovers Community Trust.
Jack Robbins fires an overhead kick past the helpless Blackburn keeper to keep confidence high ahead of the new season.
Tom Hanslip played the ball wide to Josh Summers-Green, who produced an inch perfect cross for Jack, allowing him to score in spectacular fashion for the seasiders early on in the game.
BFCCT were dominating possession in the early stages being 2-0 up after 5 minutes, however they were caught sleeping at the back. A simple long ball from the keeper split the defense leaving the rovers striker clear on goal, however his effort was denied, and Blackpool kept hold of their lead.
The miss ended up being costly as BFCCT then countered and ended up adding to their lead with Jack’s sensational effort outfoxing the Rovers number 1. The lads playing in tangerine were playing great football with some smart passing from the back into midfield which caused the opposition problems throughout the match.
One of these passages of play lead to Owen Walmsley being through on goal who slotted it calmly passed the incoming Rovers keeper. 25 minutes played and the seasiders are 5-0 up controlling the game.
The match suddenly becomes very stretched with both teams trying to score goals, Brad Smith plays the ball into the box which causes confusion between defense and keeper leaving Jack to score into an empty net, far less spectacular as his last goal. Two goals weren’t enough as Jack also pounces on an effort saved off the line to get his hat-trick.
During the final minutes of the half Tom Hanslip makes a driving run through the heart of the rovers defense, riding challenges and eventually ending up 1 on 1 with the keeper, Tom decides to take the ball round the Rovers number 1 and slotted the ball home to make the score an incredible 8-0.
Blackburn ended the half strongly with Blackpool dropping deep and inviting pressure. The Rovers striker collected the ball on the edge of the box and struck the ball into the top left hand corner of the Blackpool net from distance with a great effort, leaving the keeper rooted to his spot 8-1.
The second half was not as exciting as the first, but Blackpool did take an early opportunity through Lewis Loughran with a precise finish into the bottom right hand corner. Blackpool still tried to score more goals, however the Blackburn keeper was excellent and denied the Seasiders on many occasions, showing great shot stopping ability with some fantastic saves from close range.
The seasiders were resilient though and managed to score once again when Josh Summers- Green picked up a loose pass and scored from 40 yards out with a dinked shot over the keeper’s head enhancing the commanding lead.
The tempo of the game dropped with neither team fully committing, but then later on in the half Brad Wilsonscored a great goal from a tight angle on the left hand side of the byline with a chip floating over the keeper and into the Rovers net.
In the remaining minutes of the game, the keeper denies Lewis from close range with a good stop down to his left, but Kai Clarkson-Lowe is there with the re-bound to seal off an emphatic victory for the BTEC students.
