IR 24/25: Meet Zach T

Zach joined our Sports College in 2021, completing his BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 in Sports Coaching and Development. He quickly became known for his enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to help, both in class and during work placements.

Outside of the classroom, Zach gained practical coaching experience through volunteering at Trust activities, including Sporting Memories, Fit2Go, Premier League Kicks, and Premier League Primary Stars. He is now a paid coach on our Stars Camps and part of the match-day mascots staff.

In summer 2024, Zach took part in a 12-week coaching camp in the USA. The experience allowed him to work in a new environment, build independence, and further develop his coaching skills. Back in the UK, he continued his studies with BFCCT on our degree course, applying all the newfound confidence and practical skills he had gained.

Zach said,

“This course will allow me to achieve a degree in Sports Coaching and Development, which I’m passionate about and is key to my future goals. I chose Blackpool FC Sports College because the Trust has supported my coaching journey by providing valuable opportunities, including paid coaching hours that I wouldn’t get anywhere else.”

Dave Maclean, Community Engagement Manager, added,

“Zach’s progression into a paid role is a testament to how far he’s come and how hard he’s worked. We’re proud to have supported his journey and look forward to seeing him continue to grow.”
