PL Kicks has a long history of using the power of football and the value of sports participation to help youngsters in some of the most high-need areas. By engaging young people in constructive activities, including a wide variety of sports, coaching, dance, educational and personal development sessions, communities up and down the country have been transformed with impressive football and sports participation rates and the authorities reporting significant reductions in anti-social behaviour in the areas in which it is delivered.
We currently have several PL Kicks sites operating across Blackpool & all sessions are free.
As well as the free football sessions, PL Kicks also offers pathways into regular competitive football matches and tournaments with other Community Trust Kicks teams throughout the country.
PL Kicks is well-known for being a fun, safe and positive provision delivered in many areas of Blackpool. It is delivered with an aim to reduce anti-social behaviour and create positive lifestyle changes for 8-18-year olds.
Due to the success of our online offer during COVID-19 we will now continue to develop a digital offer which aims to engage young people, but with a safe digital approach.
As a sports charity, the games being played will be sports themed such as FIFA, among others.
In the past BFCCT have delivered multiple FIFA tournaments with young people from the local area. Tournaments have varied from in house competitions with local young people competing against each other, to competing against other football club charities all over the UK. These have been successful and enabled us to host a games night once every 7/8 weeks, whilst also offering the workshops about local issues e.g. knife crime.
Another brand-new offering is the one of a Kicks Fantasy Football for young people aged 13 – 18 years old. Each player has £100 million to create a team consisting of two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three attackers. From these players, a starting 11 must be made. Over each game week of the premier league, players will have the opportunities to gain points and climb up a league table based on how their selected players play. Points are acquired by players scoring, keeping clean sheets and much more. This provision has been extremely popular and is a great way to meet new people, whilst enjoying some healthy competition.
