Through his time at college, Matthew benefited from consistent guidance from staff and plenty of chances to get out into real delivery settings. Work placements with Blackpool FC Community Trust played a huge part in this, giving him hands-on coaching experience and helping him grow in confidence week by week.
Holiday sports camps became a big part of Matthew’s journey. He proved himself to be reliable, consistent and confident, delivering sessions across multiple venues and building strong relationships with young people. His attitude, work ethic and ability to connect with participants were quickly noticed by BFCCT staff.

Thanks to his continued commitment and development, Matthew has now moved into a full-time role within the Premier League Primary Stars team at BFCCT. Matthew’s story shows how the combination of structured education, quality placements and real delivery opportunities at Blackpool FC Sports College can lead to real progression into employment.
“The college and university played a massive role in helping me get to where I am today. I gained practical skills, had great support from lecturers, and got a real look into the industry, which gave me the confidence to step into my current role.”
