Our Community Star nominations are Roger Farley and Sarah Smith, the headteachers of Westminster Academy and St Cuthbert’s Catholic Academy/Christ the King Academy respectively.
Both Roger and Sarah go above and beyond to ensure the children at their schools receive not only the best education possible , but also that their welfare outside of school is taken care of. Both have been heavily involved in our “Holiday Hunger” joint initiative with Blackpool Council to ensure all children who need free meals during the school holidays receive these. Both headteachers also volunteer their time to ensure that school is open for vulnerable families over the holidays to access services and support. They passionately support the whole family ensuring that food parcels and other supportive measures are in place for their families to access if needed. Last Christmas this included opening the school during the festive period to provide food and activities , something that we will be supporting with this year at Westminster Academy.
