On World Cancer Day, we are highlighting the vital support we provide to people affected by cancer across our local area.
A cancer diagnosis often affects physical health, confidence, mental well-being, and quality of life. We are committed to supporting individuals at every stage of their journey, helping them rebuild strength, reconnect with others and improve overall wellbeing in a safe, supportive environment.
Our Cancer Prehabilitation and Rehabilitation programme is designed to help people both before and after treatment. Through gentle, structured physical activity tailored to individual needs, participants can prepare for treatment, regain mobility, build strength and improve energy levels at a pace that works for them. The programme also provides regular opportunities for social connection, reducing isolation and building confidence.
Lauren Cholmondeley, Community Engagement Manager at Blackpool FC Community Trust said,
“We are incredibly proud to be involved in such a meaningful programme that will continue to make a difference in the lives of people facing a challenging time. The cancer prehab and rehab initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to support the health and well-being of our local community.”
Benefits extend beyond physical activity, participants develop psychological resilience, increase social networks and find peer support that often becomes a crucial part of their recovery experience.

Sessions are led by experienced, qualified staff and are accessible and inclusive by design. This approach ensures participants feel supported, listened to and empowered at every step.
World Cancer Day is a timely reminder of the importance of early support, resilience-building and community connection. We work closely with local partners to ensure our services reflect the needs of the community and reinforce the message that no one must face cancer alone.
For those affected by cancer, whether personally or through a loved one, our programmes offer a meaningful step towards recovery, resilience and improved quality of life.
