What's on in October 2025?

What’s On at Blackpool FC Community Trust This October

October is shaping up to be another action-packed month at Blackpool FC Community Trust, with a wide range of programmes, events, and opportunities designed to support local people of all ages and backgrounds. From half-term holiday camps and football leagues to wellbeing sessions, employability support, and community initiatives, there’s something for everyone to get involved in.

Our popular Holiday Camps return this month, providing quality, fun, active, and affordable childcare across Blackpool. Families can choose from Sports Camps, Football Camp, Girls’ Football Camp, and Dance Camp for just £13.50 per day or £55 per week. We also continue to support local families through our Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Camp, offering free places to children receiving government-funded free school meals. For young people aged 7 to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities, our Stars Camp and Youth Group at Bloomfield Road Stadium provide inclusive and engaging activities in a supportive environment.

Aspire 5’s, our popular 5-a-side football league, is back with fast-paced fixtures for players of all levels. Sessions run on Mondays, with over-35s from 7pm to 8pm and players aged 18 to 34 from 8pm to 9pm. Entry is £30 per team, and each league consists of eight teams playing each other twice, with trophies and prizes for the winners. Teams can join mid-season, and attendance must be confirmed 24 hours before kick-off.

We’ll also be marking World Mental Health Day on 10 October. This year’s theme, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, focuses on mental health support in catastrophes and emergencies. It’s an important reminder that mental health matters and an opportunity to talk openly about it. Join one of our sessions including Get Vocal, Active Minds, Walk and Talk, and Extra Time to support your own wellbeing or that of someone you know.

Our cost of living support continues, with The Big Food Truck visiting Bloomfield Road every Tuesday from 2pm to 3pm. Before collecting food parcels, attendees can join our Community Club from 1:30pm to 3pm to enjoy a hot drink and access local services. Family Clubs return from Tuesday 9 September at the North Stand Community Hub every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:30pm to 5pm. Our Community Cohesion group also meets on Friday mornings from 10:30am to 11:30am to discuss local issues and plan social action projects, including a community clean-up of Revoe Park. Meanwhile, our Crochet Club meets Wednesdays from 10 September, 1:30pm to 2:30pm at Starbucks Bloomfield, offering a chance to learn a new skill with Sandy from Blackpool Coastal Housing.

In partnership with Blackpool Coastal Housing and Empowerment, our Engage4Change drop-in sessions run at the North Stand Community Hub from Tuesday 9 September, 2:15pm to 3pm. Here, residents can access support with CV writing, email setup, employability, education, and positive activity opportunities. Our Active Minds programme continues, with multiple men’s and women’s football sessions running weekly across Stanley Park, Aspire Sports Hub, Aspire Sports Centre, and Palatine Leisure Centre.

We are also seeking residents in Bloomfield, Tyldesley, Victoria, and Park wards to get involved with our Move More initiative, helping develop a community group to address local needs.

Our Get FIT Keep Fit programme continues to grow. We recently launched a new Facebook page, where you can find timetable updates, session tasters, and event information. Our Keep FIT classes run on a £20 monthly rolling membership or £3+ per session and include Circuits, BoxFIT, ClubFIT, Pilates, and Strength & Stretch. Class times and venues change weekly, so check the app or Facebook page regularly.

Man v Fat is actively seeking new participants. The programme supports men with a BMI of 27.5 or higher to lose weight, improve fitness, and build friendships. Over 90% of players achieve their weight loss goals, and sessions are available from just £35 per month.

Our Premier League Kicks team continues to deliver free evening activities for 8–18-year-olds across Blackpool, and our Premier League Primary Stars team are hosting two major events this month. On Monday 6 October, partner school students will attend a Show Racism the Red Card event focused on tackling racism in football. From 7 to 9 October, our annual Fit2Glow Festival will see schools compete in glow-in-the-dark football, culminating in a final at Blackpool Tower Circus on Friday 10 October.

Support for veterans and serving personnel continues with our Armed Forces provision, including NAAFI Break on Wednesdays (10:30am–12pm), Walk & Talk on Thursdays (1:30pm–3:30pm), Forces Football on Fridays (6pm–8:30pm), and Gardening Club on Thursdays (10am–12pm).

On the pitch, Blackpool FC Ladies have started their FA Cup campaign strongly, securing a 10-0 victory over Buxton Women, followed by a 5-1 win against Wigan Athletic Ladies and Girls. They now progress to the third qualifying round on Sunday 5th October.

We are always looking for passionate people to join our team. Volunteers are needed to support community sessions – register your interest at www.bfcct.co.uk/volunteer-with-us/
