Blackpool FC Community Trust have once again supported the National Literacy Trust’s reading initiative ‘Get Blackpool reading’ and promoted the ever-popular World Book Day (3rd March).
In partnership with WHSmith’s and the Premier League, we were able to set up a free bookstall in our Education and Community Centre which offered Blackpool FC supporters and the local community the opportunity to collect numerous children’s books of their choice from the wide range available.
Over 400 books were distributed at the event which also had a special visit from Blackpool FC owner Simon Sadler.
In celebration of World Book Day, we have also designed our own unique Blackpool FC Community Trust reading posters. The posters, which feature Blackpool FC’s first team players; Jordan Gabriel, Richard Keogh, Keshi Anderson and Josh Bowler are to remind children of the fantastic benefits of reading.
These posters also include the ‘Unstoppable’ book used on our Year 6 PSHE programme by the same name.
They will be distributed to all primary schools in Blackpool to print out and display in their school library, using local role models to promote the importance and positivity of reading.
