Blackpool FC Community Trust Futsal squads were back in action at the Powerleague Arena in Manchester for the EFL North West Futsal Development League this week.
The Trust offer BTEC Level 1, 2 and 3 in Sports coaching, Fitness and Development and Football Academy, with the Level 3 extended diploma being equivalent to 3 a-levels. The Football Academy pathway sees students take part in Futsal which is continuously developing and has seen the likes of global football players like Neymar, Coutinho and Alexis Sanchez participate in when they were younger.
The day saw The Trust’s A team beat Fleetwood Town A, B and C teams where an impressive 20 goals were scored and 4 goals against.
The Trust’s B team won two games and lost one with victories against Preston and Blackpool C. The win against Preston was the stand out result of the day as the Seasiders won 6-4 after being 4-1 down.
Football Development Officer Alex Taylor said “The players showed great character to come back from a slow start to the game.” “The victory was deserved and it was also good for the players with it being our close rivals”.
The Trust’s C team struggled with defeats from Wigan, Oldham and Blackpool B on the day. The team improved as the day went on but will remain in Tier 2 of the North West Futsal Development League.”
BTEC Student Cameron Cregg, fully enjoyed the day. Cameron said,, “I’m really enjoying my Futsal at the minute on the BTEC Course at Blackpool FC Community Trust, over the past two game weeks I’ve scored 12 goals. I feel that I’m learning all the time and I’m really enjoying my studies”
