St John Vianney Crowned EFL Trust Kids Cup Winners

St John Vianney were crowned EFL Trust Kids Cup Winners on Saturday following a dramatic penalty-shoot victory against Norbreck Primary Academy.

The two teams played at half-time on the Bloomfield Road turf in front of 5,817 fans during Blackpool’s 1-3 defeat to Wigan Athletic.

The final lasted ten minutes and Norbreck opened the scoring but St John Vianney equalised soon after. The game finished 1-1 and went to a sudden death penalty shoot-out where St John Vianney won 4-3.

Physical Education Team Leader, Chloe Hilton was delighted with how the day panned out. Chloe said, “The day was a success and it was great to see the final played in such high spirits despite the torrential rain. Well done to both teams today and good luck to St John Vianney who will now represent Blackpool FC Community Trust in the League One North Regional Competition held at Rochdale United, where they will compete against other schools for a chance to play at Wembley.”

St John Vianney will be presented with the EFL Trust Kids Cup on Thursday morning at their school during assembly.
