Holiday Activities and Food

Over the past 12 months, Blackpool FC Community Trust have successfully coordinated HAF delivery, culminating in 1400 participants engaging in the service last summer, 347 sessions were delivered to children and young people with 85.5% of participants being children on free school meals (FSM) and 14.5% being targeted through other vulnerabilities.

By continuing to work with a number of Blackpool primary school’s we are looking to increase the Trust’s delivery of this service and supply up to 300 places per day for children on free school meals.

The HAF programme consists of face to face delivery and takes place over Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays. As there is a high need for this type of support in Blackpool the Local Authority has committed to fund February, May, October holidays.

As a result of this programme, we want children who attend this provision to:

  • eat more healthily over the school holidays
  • be more active during the school holidays
  • take part in engaging and enriching activities which support the development of resilience, character and wellbeing along with their wider educational attainment
  • be safe and not to be socially isolated
  • have a greater knowledge of health and nutrition
  • be more engaged with school and other local services

We also want to ensure that the families who participate in this programme:

  • develop their understanding of nutrition and food budgeting
  • are signposted towards other information and support, for example, health, employment and education
