Blackpool FC Community Trust’s Kicks programme is delivered across Blackpool on a daily basis by our qualified coaches and is an opportunity for 7-19 year olds to play football.
Sophia and Samantha have been regular Kicks participants at Watson Road Park over the last six months. See below why they enjoy coming to Kicks and the positive influence Kicks has had on their lives.
Sophia said, “I like coming to Kicks because I like football and I’ve made new friends. My favourite part of Kicks is doing the penalty shoot-out.”
Sophia’s Dad said, “Sophia enjoys the sessions and looks forward to coming to learn new skills and interact with the other children. The sessions are good for Sophia because there’s no gender issue between the kids as they’re all happy to play together.”

Samantha said, “I like playing football and I like coming here (to Kicks) because it’s safe and fun.”
Samantha’s Dad said, “Samantha’s attitude and behaviour has improved since coming to the football sessions. Her commitment as a whole has improved too, as she wants to do more things rather than give up after a week.”
Samantha’s Dad added, “She now has a larger circle of friends as she’s starting to mix more with other children. Her confidence has grown as a result and this has also been noticed at school within her report.”
Senior Sports Participation Officer Michael Brown who oversees the Kicks programme said, “Kicks is a fantastic opportunity to not only keep healthy but also makes friends – so it’s great to Sophia and Samantha enjoying this brilliant programme. All Kicks sessions are completely free and are for ages 7-19.”
