Unite for Access
In support of Unite for Access, Blackpool FC, working alongside us, welcomed pupils from two SEND schools we work with thanks to our ticket sponsor LogoLogo Branded Clothing. We deliver BBC Children in Need funded sessions in both schools, one of which we have been working with for a long time and many of our community disability sessions are attended by pupils from this school. This was a fantastic experience for everyone who attended with some of them seeing a live football match for the first time.
EFL Together Supporting Communities Campaign sponsored by eBay
This month, welcomed families to Bloomfield Road on Thursday 16 March, as part of the Winter Warm-Up Hubs initiative supported by Blackpool Council, Blackpool FC and Segantii Capital Management. Current first-team players Jordan Thorniley, Callum Connolly, Luke Garbutt, Curtis Nelson, and Rob Apter, as well as club legend Charlie Adam, met families and took part in activities, before handing out matchday tickets for Blackpool’s game against Coventry City on Saturday 18 March.
Launched in November 2022, the EFL’s ‘Together – Supporting Communities’ campaign has seen EFL clubs provide community services and matchday offers to help people during the cost of living crisis.
World Book Day Event
Before the fixture between Blackpool FC and Burnley, we hosted our World Book Day Event at the Education and Community Centre in Bloomfield Road. The event was a great success, with several children coming to collect some free books. We were also greeted with visits from Blackpool FC first-team players Jake Beasley and Kevin Stewart and also the very own Bloomfield Bear which put that extra smile on the children’s faces.
International Women’s Day
Seb and Rachel took part in an #IWD2023 event at Blackpool Sixth Form where girls were tasked to design a woman made up from aspects of influential women either in their personal lives, celebrities, leaders or athletes.
We also launched our very own Female Leadership Academy which aims to provide young females with the opportunities to develop as leaders and give them the tools to be able to take forward to succeed in both life and sports. This programme is open to any female aged 14-18 wanting to become a young leader or possibly looking towards a career in football or sport. Sessions will run from 6 pm each Friday evening at Aspire Sports Hubs starting in April.

PL Primary Stars Social Action Project
Stanley Primary School as part of PL Primary Stars protect the planet social action, the eco squad planted 60 trees on the school grounds! The eco squad have led and taken part in a 6-week programme where they have learnt about how they can protect the planet and have therefore planned, designed and delivered their own social action by planting trees, improving the school’s carbon footprint and becoming more environmentally sustainable.
Alongside this, they have also designed signs to remind teachers to switch off the lights and to recycle rubbish.
Blackpool FC Sports College Careers Fair
Blackpool FC Sports College hosted a careers event for all students. There were employers from different sectors of the sports industry, such as personal training, coaching and jobs here within Blackpool FC Community Trust. They also learnt about scholarships and coaching opportunities in America, which broadened the horizons for students who may have never considered working or studying abroad. This was a successful event which provided a platform for students to explore their interests in the sports industry and connect with professionals who can guide them on their journey towards a successful career.
Sporting Memories
At our Sporting Memories session this month, we were visited by Blackpool FC legend, Graham Oates. Our participants were able to ask the former player questions about his career, ask about his favourite memories and get photos.
