New Programme Announcement: Female Leadership Academy

As today is International Women’s Day we are delighted to announce the launch of our very own Female Leadership Academy which will be open to young females based in the Blackpool area in the coming weeks.

The aim of developing a female leadership academy is to provide young females with the opportunities to develop as leaders and give them the tools to be able to take forward to succeed in both life and sports. The leadership course is a UNITAR-accredited programme which will focus on a range of topics including identity, equality, empowerment, body image and finding your way to lead using the strengths you possess.

We are excited to begin delivery in April 2023 on Friday evenings at Aspire Sports Hub. This is particularly exciting as the hub will be a hive of female participation throughout Friday evenings with other programmes such as the newly established Emerging Talent Centre taking place on the same evening. Sessions will run from 6 pm each Friday evening starting from April. Stay tuned on our social media pages for an exact starting date.

Blackpool FC Community Trust’s Female Football Development Manager Andrew Aspinall commented on the programme: “It will be a fantastic initiative to get a group of females attending the sports hub to take part in our Female Leadership Academy. Part of my aim since beginning my role is to develop female football and get the next generation of footballers, coaches and leaders involved in the opportunities available at BFCCT. By running this in addition to our other female-specific programmes at Aspire we are giving young people the best opportunities to participate in and enjoy their football and sport.”

This programme is open to any female aged 14-18 wanting to become a young leader or possibly looking towards a career in football or sport. We will only be able to deliver this to a limited number of individuals so we advise anybody who may be interested to contact brett.whitehead@bfcct.co.uk to express an interest or confirm their place. Once places are full we may create a waiting list for a future group.

This has all been made possible due to our relationship with the Premier League Charitable Fund and due to the PL Kicks and PL Changemakers funding received, we can offer this course free of charge to all wanting to participate.
