Blackpool FC Community Trust currently provide an employability programme to support 18 – 24 year olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).
Working in partnership with the EFL Trust and West Lancashire College the Traineeship programme was developed to support young people over a 12 week period to give them work experience along with additional qualifications to make them more employable.
Qualifications include, Functional Skills Maths and English, L3 First Aid At Work, L1 in Employability and L1 in Health and Safety At Work.
We currently work with a host of businesses including; Blackpool Pleasure Beach, NHS, Blackpool Transport, Toyland, all of who provide valuable work placement opportunities for young people to gain work experience. There were 18 young people who completed the programme at the end of April with a number of them securing full time employment. The next course will begin on Monday 3rdJune 2019, if you would like more information: 01253 348 691.
Although the project is delivered by 24 clubs across England we have been selected, as one of only a handful, to pilot a 25 plus programme in conjunction with the EFL and Job Centre Plus.
“I would just like to say that working with the Community Trust these last 12 months has been amazing and supportive. It has helped us at the Job Centre get many disadvantaged young people back into work and education. Some of which, had no previous experience or life goals.
I believe our close working relationship will help many more move forward into the world over the coming months and years. It has worked so well with the young people that we have referred to the traineeship.”
- Abergale Britton Job Centre plus
The 25 plus programme will be the same as the 18-24 year old programme but over an 8 week period with the addition of ICT Digital Skills and Business Admin. qualifications.
This first pilot with be aimed solely at females, due to the high number of unemployed females in the 25 plus age bracket, and then opened to all 25 plus people who are long term unemployed. Places will be filled by referrals from the Job Centre.
