A day full of drama, but the BTEC students leave Birmingham with 4 points from their opening 2 games!
Blackpool’s first futsal game of the season was against a physically strong Bristol City side. The Reds were the better of the two teams in the early exchanges with Bristol taking the lead early on in the match. Blackpool responded well by scoring a couple goals themselves. The opposition remained positive despite conceding two goals and managed to find an equaliser. Neither teams were finished there, The Robins went on to lead by just one goal in an exciting encounter, where both teams were scoring for fun!

Blackpool started the second half poorly by conceding three goals in the first five minutes, however the BTEC students showed that fighting spirit once again. The chances started to flow and after five fouls, three free kicks and one penalty Blackpool found themselves leading the game and in the closing moments the Seasiders scored again earning them an impressive comeback victory over Bristol City.

After claiming their first futsal victory of the season, Blackpool faced a new challenge in Albion in the Community (Brighton).
Again, Blackpool started slowly with Albion applying huge amounts of pressure on the Tangerine goal and they eventually got the breakthrough via a lucky deflection. The BTEC students continued to show heart and desire and found an equaliser early on in the half. This gave Blackpool huge amounts of confidence to push on and finish the remainder of the half strongly. After over 10 minutes of dominance Blackpool deservedly went into halftime in front by a two goal margin.

The second half kicked off with Brighton changing tactics, pressing the Seasiders defence and earning themselves a goal back. However, once again Blackpool respond well and restored their two goal lead early on in the second half. Albion had nothing to lose and threw everything at Blackpool resulting in them levelling the game. With the score level and both sides looking for a winner, the Seagulls took the lead. With a mere two minutes left it looked to be the winning goal but unfortunately for them the Blackpool BTEC students kept battling and incredibly managed to find an equaliser with two seconds remaining on the clock!
