Clifton Rangers Come Out on Top!

More than 60 Year 11 pupils took time out from their revision to play in Blackpool FC Community Trust’s BTEC education 7-a-side Football Tournament on the pitch at Bloomfield Rd.

Players from Kirkham Juniors, Clifton Rangers, Foxhall Juniors, Poulton Pumas, Accrington Stanley Community Trust and a team from Blackpool FC Community Trust took part in the event on Tuesday evening.

Foxhall Juniors and Poulton Pumas were successful in their attempts to qualify from Group A. Clifton Rangers and Accrington Stanley were to follow from Group B after the latter had a better goals scored ratio than Kirkham.

Clifton Rangers beat Poulton Pumas 2-0 in the first Semi-Final and Foxhall Juniors were comfortable winners over Accrington Stanley in the second.

Both teams, Clifton Rangers and Foxhall Juniors, were unbeaten on their journey to the Final so it was to be a close one. Clifton scored early on to settle any nerves with an excellent strike from distance. Foxhall attempted a comeback but struggled to pass a sturdy defence. Clifton hung on for the remainder of the match to clinch this years crown with a 1-0 victory.

A really enjoyable event for players, coaching staff and spectators.
