BTEC in Sport student takes part in EFL Trust All Stars Event

BTEC in Sport student Luke Harris travelled to St. Georges Park, Home of the England National team to represent Blackpool FC Community Trust in the EFL Trust All Stars Futsal event 2018.

Luke had been selected in the first ever EFL Trust’s All Stars Futsal event for outstanding performances in Blackpool FC Community Trust’s A team. Students from Blackpool FC Community Trust take part in the North West Futsal Development League on a fortnightly basis as part of the practical element of the BTEC course.
Luke joined up with other selected players from EFL Trust clubs in the North to train in the morning and take part in a tournament against the Midlands, the South East and South West of England inside the state of the art indoor Futsal arena.

The North All Stars first game saw them take on the Midlands All Stars which they won 2-0. Luke assisted the first goal with a great cut back to the back post and he sealed the win with a delightful chip.

The North’s second game was against the South East All Stars. They had to come from a goal behind to win 2-1 scoring both goals in the final 2 minutes. Luke again had a hand in the equalising goal.

The North’s final game was against the South West All Stars who were currently 2nd in the group after losing their first game against the South East but running out convincing winners in their second game. A draw or a narrow defeat would mean the North would win the tournament.

Things didn’t quite go to plan for the North as they lost 2-0. A close game but a deserved victory for the South West. This meant that both the North, South West and the South East all finished on 6 points. The South West had a better goal difference and were crowned as this years winners of the EFL Trust Futsal All Stars event.

Football Development Officer Alex Taylor said, “It was a fantastic event ran by the EFL Trust. Luke was a credit to the Community Trust, he represented us very well. He was very pleased to be invited and looked very comfortable at that level.”
Alex added, “It just shows we are doing the right things in developing our students in all areas of the game and as young adults.”
