Blackpool FC Sports College Student Away Days

Blackpool FC Sports College Students have been learning virtually away from Blackpool Football Club over the last couple of weeks. Students are staying at home, linking into daily zoom classes and being taught full time by their BFCCT tutors. Whilst doing this, they have also continued to take part in the enrichment pathway that the college offers.

Staff have provided laptops and training equipment that students can use from home, enabling them to continue to take part in online technical, tactical and physical sessions delivered by BFCCT tutors.

The first of many online tactical sessions took place last week where students watched England Head Coach Gareth Southgate deliver a session on creative attacking play.

Students discussed the session with staff and took part in an online quiz, checking and challenging their understanding. We hope that these online tactical sessions will develop their knowledge, so when they do get to put their boots on and wear the BFC kit, they will have an improved understanding.

The first of two physical activity sessions took place over zoom. This was a great opportunity for the group to meet socially outside their tutor groups and also take part in some fun interactive physical challenges to improve their health and well-being.

Students were also encouraged to join the BFC Sports College Strava 30 day challenge. This is to record a maximum of a walk, a run or cycle on the bike on one day, across the 30 days so they can maintain or look to improve their fitness level, whilst sticking to government guidelines.

BFC Sports College has arranged a number of guest speakers this academic year.

Last week, sports broadcaster Clive Tyldesley joined the group virtually to offer an insight and guidance with relation to employability and sporting career pathways. Clive took questions, outlined his career highlights and explained the importance of volunteering and being proactive.

BFC Sports College is inviting new students who have a passion for SPORT, to start one of the BFC Sports College courses in September 2021.
