Students Talk About Work Experience

Did you know Blackpool FC Community Trust Education Department, Blackpool FC Sports College, deliver; BTEC, Foundation Degree and Degree courses at Bloomfield Road Stadium? We are holding an Open Evening Thursday 30th January 5pm – 7pm.

As part of the courses we are able to provide a variety of work experience opportunities.

Below hear from two of the Degree Students.

Toby GoughI have been doing Tiny Tangerines for a while now as part of my degree programme for work experience and it has been very educational for me as well as the kids.  All the kids are great to coach as they are super enthusiastic while having lots of fun. All the participants are nice to each other which helps build team work skills as well as creating good friendships further on.

The experiences I have gained from these sessions have helped me along my path to becoming a coach. Working with children that are such a young age furthers your understanding in this field as they are so eager to learn, their brains are like a sponge for new techniques to try and master and I’m glad I’m there to help them. Watching them become the next generation of Messi’s and Ronaldo’s makes me glad to take part in the programme and in the degree.”

Brad BaylissI have been volunteering at Walking Football for a year now with Blackpool Football Club Community Trust. When I first started, I observed a senior coach for a few games, and I was watching how to manage the game and how to deal with players.  I then started having a go at refereeing myself and once my confidence improved, I gradually took this on full time.

I am now doing this as part of my work experience for my degree that I am studying at Blackpool FC Sports College (Football Coaching Development). After continuous volunteering I am now confident enough to have control of my own pitch and referee Walking Football which has given me the opportunity to receive some paid work. I want to thank Marsy (Dave Marsland) and all the staff at Blackpool Football club Community Trust who have believed in me and given me the opportunity to be part of a fantastic team”

Don’t forget Blackpool FC Sports College have an open evening on Thursday 30thJanuary 2020 5pm – 7pm in the Education and Community Centre.  This is a great opportunity to meet the staff, see the facility and ask any questions you may have.
