Pan Ability Teams Success

Blackpool FC Community Trust’s Adult Pan Ability team is for anyone over the age of 16 with a disability or impairment to take part in regular training and potential competitive fixtures / tournaments. Sessions take places every Thursday at PlayFootball – 7-8pm. Sessions are just £1 and is played outdoor.

On Saturday 7thDecember our two Pan-Ability football teams played their last league games of the season, for this year.

A huge congratulations to our Championship team who, for the 5thyear in a row, won the league.

Not forgetting our B team, who after a busy day of matches, took part in a 3rdplace play off against the team who they had lost to earlier on in the day and came joint 3rdwith.

The game was edgy at first, with both teams giving it their all; tracking back, making runs and shooting at any opportunity. Both keepers were stalwarts in keeping their nets from rippling. Eventually we broke the deadlock by getting the first goal and then continue to hit the back of the net a few more times giving BFCCT a comfortable lead. Nevertheless, both teams continued to play as if it was nil-nil which made it an exciting game to watch. The opposition got one back but that only renewed our energy and increased our determination to win.

After what seemed like a full 90 minutes, instead of the 10 minutes we played, the final whistle blew and the pent-up energy that our team had used to win the game blew itself out in jubilation with high-fives and smiles all round.

The game finished 4-1 to Blackpool FC Community Trust with a third-place medal secured.

Sue from the B team said “We all played really well. I’m proud of the team”.

Paul Mullin, Disability Engagement Officer, said “The effort given in that play off was brilliant. The team’s attitude was what won them the game”.

The Community Trust also run Pan Ability Football sessions for 7 – 16 year olds.
