NEW Walking Football News

Blackpool FC Community Trust deliver Walking Football, a variant of the beautiful game, allowing older people to participate for fun and to stay active.

We are delighted to announce we are moving our Thursday (50+) Walking Football session from PlayFootball to the brand new facility at Unity Academy on Warbreck Hill Rd (FY2 0TR) and from Wednesday 3rd July 2019 it will take place on a Wednesday.

Also, due to the popularity of walking football we are pleased to announce that we are adding a new 35+ Walking Football session!

If you’ve not yet seen the new facility at Unity, it is first class and we are very fortunate to have secured it as our new venue. As this is the opening night, the sessions will be combined, with regular breaks, and run 5pm – 7pm (£4 to play).

Ex-pro’s Derek Spence and Marc Joseph have kindly agreed to come down and join us for a kick about on the opening night as well as former Blackpool FC Legend Brett Ormerod.

Anyone over 35 is able to take part in either of the sessions on Wednesday, although the 35+ session is played at a slightly faster pace. Running is not permitted in either format, nor is physical contact.

After the opening evening the sessions will run as follows:

 50+ from 5pm – 6pm  £4 a session

35+ from 6:30pm – 8pm £5 a session

Jason White, Head of Sport at Blackpool FC Community Trust said, “Football is the national game and should be available to everyone which is one of the great things about walking football, people who have not played for years can re-engage and go on to win trophies.”

Can’t make it this time? In addition to these sessions we continue to run our Walking Football sessions at Playfootball on Monday evenings: Age 50 + 4:30pm – 5:30pm and Age 35+ 6pm – 7pm.
