Have you heard about our Traineeship programme?

Blackpool FC Community Trust’s Traineeship course runs for 12 weeks and aims to change lives for the better. The course has been made to help those who are aged 16-24 and who are not currently in education, employment or training.

No qualifications are required and the course is free of charge. The Traineeship course also gives the opportunity for the trainees who enrol, to progress onto a further education course in sports. The trainees will gain 216 hours of work experience and will be working within a professional football club.

The Traineeship course, which is based at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool, provides crucial work experience which includes:

  • Working in different departments of a professional football club
  • Assisting in the delivery of sports in schools
  • Assisting in the delivery of Premier League Kicks and Walking Football sessions
  • Working within the private sports sector

The trainees will be provided with the official Blackpool FC Community Trust replica tracksuit, shorts, t-shirts and waterproof jacket.

Blackpool FC Community Trust, Traineeship Officer Colin King, believes the Traineeship course is an excellent opportunity for trainees to turn their lives around and start their further education which will lead to employment opportunities. Colin said, “This is a unique course which allows young adults between the age of 16 and 18, to enrol and learn crucial life skills whilst building their confidence. It’s a stepping stone back into further education because the majority of people who have enrolled in the past have either been kicked out of school or have registered no qualifications.”

The course provides the necessary tools to gain employment through Level 1 Employability Skills and Level 2 in The Principles of Sports Coaching. On completion of the course, the trainees can progress on to BTEC Level 3 in Futsal/Football studies with the Blackpool FC Community Trust.

Colin believes with the right attitude and commitment trainees can achieve their goals in life.

The current course started on Monday 4th February and has 26 people enrolled.  They are gaining experience in a variety of areas from educational establishments, media companies, ground work and construction work to retail, animal care, hospitality and even working along side us here at the Trust through coaching.
