Half Way There: Female FFIT

Female Football Fans in Training (FFIT) is a FREE 13 week weight management programme located at Bloomfield Road Stadium aimed at women aged 35 – 65 and with a BMI 28 +.  Each session combines both theory and physically activities around the stadium. This free provision includes an initial health check on the first session. You will also receive a booklet to monitor your progress and write notes as well as a pedometer to track your step count throughout each day.  Following our success with delivering the Football Fans in Training (FFIT) for men programme, funded by Sport England, our Female FFIT is being launched thanks to a £10,000 Heart Research UK and Subway® Healthy Heart Grant.

Lucy who co-ordinates and delivers the programme says, “I would recommend this fantastic weight management programme to ladies who would like small and steadily changes to help them develop and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.  We do this by encouraging realistic targets on a weekly basis so together we can reach your desired goals.”

On Tuesday 30th April, Female FFIT reached its halfway point. 11 out the 15 females currently enrolled on the programme lost 16.1kg and 32cm. The programme so far has included discussions on physical activity and its barriers, alcohol, The Eat Well Guide, recording weekly step count, as well as setting and achieving SMART targets that can be achieved and revised each week. Every session the coaches at BFCCT have introduced new exercises that the participants can learn and continue at home in order to keep active.

Well done to everyone taking part in this fantastic programme, we are looking forward to the next 6 weeks and even more progression.  There is even the possibility of taking part in the local Race for Life.

If you are interested in the next programme, which is set to start at the beginning of July, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. For more information contact lucy.collins-campbell@bfcct.c.uk or call 01253 348 691
