Girls Cup 2020

On Friday 14th February Blackpool FC Community Trust hosted the first ever Premier League Primary Stars Under 11 Girls Football Tournament at Stanley Park.  The day was a big success and well done to everyone who took part.

“Our first girls’ competition was a real success, with over 120 girls attending to play competitive football. Thankfully the storm held off which gave us great playing conditions for everyone to enjoy. It’s great that we’re able to offer these types of opportunities to local primary schools through our Premier League Primary Stars project and the partnership work with Active Blackpool.”- Chris Debar, P.E Manager

Congratulations to winners Ansdell Primary School.

Catherine Taylor, teacher at Ansdell, said:

“Thanks to the team who organised such a great event, which encouraged and showcased girls football. I am so very proud of our team’s fantastic achievement today. I had many teachers from other schools approach me and complement the talent within the team.”

Later this month they will travel to Liverpool FC Academy to represent Blackpool FC in the regional competition.   Best of luck from all of us here at Blackpool FC Community Trust!

It was great to get such positive feedback from parents too.

“My daughter loved playing in this tournament for school.  It was really well organised and all the girls loved it!– Grace Chester, parent of participant.
