What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure is a measure of the force that your heart uses to pump blood around your body.
High blood pressure, or hypertension, rarely has noticeable symptoms. But if untreated, it increases your risk of developing serious health problems such as heart attacks and strokes. It is also one of the most common conditions with more than one in four adults in the UK have the condition.
Thanks to funding from the British Heart Foundation, Blackpool FC Community Trust, along with the other six professional football league clubs in Lancashire (PNE, Morecambe, Accrington Stanley, Burnley, Blackburn Rovers, and Fleetwood), are delivering blood pressure checks in the community as part of a project involving Lancashire County Council, Leisure Providers, and Pharmacies.
