A Message from our CEO

We wanted to give you a short update on our plans to manage the current situation with Coronavirus.

During this unprecedented time, our primary concerns are for the health and wellbeing of our staff, participants, students and the broader Blackpool community.

In this difficult time and with an enormously heavy heart by the end of this week we will have closed down all of our usual services. This includes the closure of our Education and Community Centre at Bloomfield Road and the BFC Sports College until further notice.

My team have been amazing in this past week in particular, continuing to come to work, with one clear desire; to find ways for us to continue to support our local community and we hope to have a number of things up and running in the next week or so to do this.

For example, our Traineeship, BTEC and Degree Sports students will continue to be educated via virtual platforms and work set for them to complete and engage with their teachers throughout this period.

Our School PE and Community Activity teams are finding ways for children and adults to still take part in physical activity and connect with their fellow participants and our teams who focus on young people’s mental health, like our Unstoppable and PL Inspires programmes are finding ways to continue to engage with young people in an ever changing environment.

Our staff are also ready to support local services and staff who will need help in the next few months and are prepared to help with staffing in school provisions that need to continue, social action that needs to take place and any other ways we can continue to support our community. The creativity and positivity of the team, in such a difficult situation has been overwhelming.

So, anyone that needs help, please ask.

We hope this hiatus doesn’t last too long and that we can get back to supporting our community in our traditional delivery very soon.

Please respect the wishes of our government, follow their advice closely and please look after yourselves and your families.

Finally, please keep in touch with us through our new ways of delivery and our social media platforms and stay positive and safe.

Warm Regards and #UTMP
